Inside Equine Health: An Evening With The Experts

Join Us for an Evening of Horse Health Education

At Sunshine Coast Equine Hospital, we believe that informed horse owners are empowered horse owners.

We’re excited to invite you to a Horse Health Education Evening where our team will discuss several important conditions that we commonly see in practice — and how early recognition and management can make a significant difference to outcomes.

During the evening we will cover:

Equine Metabolic Syndrome (EMS)

Is your horse a “good doer” or prone to weight gain? Or does your horse seem to get foot sore?

Equine Metabolic Syndrome is a common disease and can significantly increase the risk of laminitis. We’ll discuss how EMS develops, how it can be diagnosed, and practical strategies to help manage the condition.

Septic Joints

Septic joints are one of the true emergencies in equine medicine. Rapid diagnosis and treatment can mean the difference between recovery and long-term complications.

We’ll explain what happens when a joint becomes infected, what signs owners should look for, what first aid can be performed at home and how these cases are treated in a hospital setting.

Bent Legs in Foals

Many foals are born with limb deviations that may affect their performance in the future.

We’ll discuss when these conditions can resolve naturally, when veterinary intervention is needed, and why early assessment is so important during a foal’s early growth.
